We are currently building a storage system in the back of Rommel, the Lexus LX450, to help organize and secure gear while offroad and Overlanding.

The goal for this build is to keep weight down using 1/2″ aluminum tube for structure and 1/2″ furniture grade plywood for strength an durability. This is a test piece, as most prototypes are. Once tested, changes and improvements will be made to ensure durability and strength.

The storage system was modeled in Solidworks 3D CAD software, then the frame was mocked up in location for production dimensions.

Next is the water well and front storage. This will house a Plastimo 26gallon water bladder and mechanicals. Plus on top will be heavy items to keep the weight centrally located, tools, recovery gear, spares, water hoses, etc.
