Expedition Ops Shower Mat Available for purchase HERE
During a hot shower while camping on Sheep Table Mountain in the Badlands of South Dakota, I realized that my feet were dirtier than when I’d started. “I need a shower mat,” I said to my friend Tim. And that was how this whole thing started:
At the time I was a designer for a big box retailer working on furniture that wouldn’t survive long and would end up in a landfill. I wasn’t happy contributing to 40,000+ units of landfill fodder, with every product I worked on, so I decided the first product I would design for my own company would be as ecologically sound as possible. My product mission: create from reused materials, make it rebuildable, use recyclable materials that age with character, and last but not least , solve the problem of dirty feet.

A Canadian Customer called and asked us to get his 2005 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Short Bed ready for Overlanding. After, several consultations calls with us, he was armed with some info and some options to choose his direction and priorities. Utilizing high quality Old Man Emu suspension, MAXTRAX, 4x Innovation Bolt-on Sliders, Eezi-Awn T-Top 1600 Roof Top Tent and an Expedition Ops Designs Low Height Bed Rack, we were able to take his Tacoma stock the ready to roll in the backcountry. He arranged tires and powder coating back in Saskatchewan, allowing us to deliver a quick turnaround for he and his new Expo Rig.
Overland Expo 2012 was a great event for us this year. Our second year there and first as an Featured Exhibitor, sales were off the charts, with Watershed Dry Bags leading the pack as our most popular item.

A simple and cost-effective mounting solution for almost any piece of gear. Instead of drilling holes to mount the shovel on the rear dual swing away bumper by 4x4Labs.com I used two Quick-Fists, bolted to each other, to secure each end of the shovel.

We are currently building a storage system in the back of Rommel, the Lexus LX450, to help organize and secure gear while offroad and Overlanding.
The goal for this build is to keep weight down using 1/2″ aluminum tube for structure and 1/2″ furniture grade plywood for strength an durability. This is a test piece, as most prototypes are. Once tested, changes and improvements will be made to ensure durability and strength.
The storage system was modeled in Solidworks 3D CAD software, then the frame was mocked up in location for production dimensions.
The Expedition Ops Shower Mat is designed to help keep your feet sand, mud, disease and debris free. Use your mat at your camp shower, while changing clothes or shoes, standing barefoot at your camp kitchen, and even while at public campground showers.
While designing the Expedition Ops Shower Mat, the entire life cycle of the materials was taken into consideration. Each piece is sourced and manufactured domestically. The redwood is reclaimed from old pickle, wine and water tanks and the copper is reclaimed, when available, from the construction industry. Whenever possible, reclaimed stainless steel is substituted. No other wood provides the complete performance of redwood for beauty, stability, durability, and resistance to moisture and insects. Redwood is unique, it does not splinter but becomes more “furry” or soft to the touch with age and use. It’s patina complements the copper. Each piece of reclaimed redwood has a unique grain resulting in a one-of-a -kind piece of functional art with markings from its previous life.
Use while showering, changing, entering your tent, or any time a clean comfortable place to stand is needed
Keeps feet free from dirt, mud, sand, and protects sensitive feet from harsh surfaces
Made of reclaimed redwood, copper (when available), and stainless steel (when available)
18″x27″ standing surface, rolls to 6″x18″
Redwood dries quickly
Stainless steel loop on end allows for the mat to be carried, hung and bound easily
Redwood is an indigenous material to the United States

We just had a Bushranger X-Jack in the shop from ARB. This is a great product, very safe stable and packs nice and flat. If farm jacks make you nervous, try one of these out. They can be filled using compressed air or your vehicles own exhaust. Here’s a quick video:
